Gay Friend Finder is out to put a little romance back into the lives of single men around the globe. This site comes with all the usual trappings you’d expect to find in a dating site. They are just served up a little differently. Here’s what our review turned up…Profiles make a dating site. That’s what’s so unusual about the Gay Friend Finder way of serving up the site to singles. They don’t let new users near them! You can only see brief summaries of profiles. You only get small snapshots on profiles and can’t access any additional pictures that may be posted. It feels like it’s a rip off . . . but is it? We’d have to say no. The truth of the matter is that Friend Finder is one of the largest network of sites out there. They know how a site should run and can get in front of people to attract new members. Most sites these days go out of their way to prove that fact. If they have members, they want you to see them so that you can tell that a site is worth the time and money. Gay Friend Finder bucks this trend. That leaves the question, do they have many members?
“Gay Friend Finder has a good product but the site is inhospitable for people who haven’t paid.”
Our stats say that it is a moderately busy site. It certainly isn’t the number one destination for gay singles on the Net but it isn’t bad either. It may be worth it if you’re looking for a second or third dating site to add to your list but you may want to check out other gay dating sites first.
In order to tell if a dating site has many active members, you need to be able to see when a profile last logged in. The good news is that Gay Friend Finder shows you this statistic if they logged in recently. The bad news is that there’s no way to sort your search results based on that information – at least not for free. You need to buy a gold membership in order to be able to sort by a particular login date but this clearly does little good for users who are trying to determine how busy the site is on any given day.
Gay Friend Finder gives new users the cold shoulder when it comes to search options. As mentioned, there’s no way to sort members based on when they last logged on until you pay. In fact, the only criteria you can sort by is age, general location and the type of relationship they want. All the rest comes after you’ve paid for one of their membership plans. That payment opens the doors to other options. Gold members have it best, being able to sort by login date, height and title keyword. Personally, it comes off as a cheap way to grab member money. At about $28 for a full gold membership, it’s a little steep considering the amount of members. However, if money is no object, then sign on and search away!
Overall, Gay Friend Finder has a good product but the site is inhospitable for people who haven’t paid. Sign on but search for yourself beforehand. It’s the only way to tell if Gay Friend Finder has enough people in your area worth paying for.
